Beginning guitar and piano instructor, Mrs. Bartlett has been working with children's music and song programs since 2001. Mrs. Bartlett's child-centered approach to teaching encourages expression, creativity, enthusiasm, and self discipline --- qualities that music learning embodies and transcends all aspects of childhood development. Mrs. Bartlett graduated from California State University in Chico and has been continuing her musical studies at both Diablo Valley Community College and Ohlone College. She has studied under Richard Flores and has been performing with the DVC Ensemble for the past 5 years. Mrs. Bartlett presently lives in San Ramon, California. |

Drummer/Percussionist Kenneth is an active freelance percussionist, and has worked with many diverse groups throughout the Bay Area. Kenneth received his Bachelor's Degreen Music from California State University, East Bay, and graduated with honors. Kenneth is the current principal percussionist of the Silicon Valley Symphony, and has played percussion and drum set with groups such as Schola Cantorum, Broadway by the Bay, Starstruck Theater, Stanford New Music Ensemble, Master Sinfonial Orchestra, California Pops, and many others. He has been a featured soloist in the CSU East Bay Symphonic Band, and has recorded an album for the 50th Anniversary of the University, playing timpani with the University Symphonic Band, and drum set with the University's top Jazz Ensemble. Kenneth has been playing drums for 10 years, and is also one of two percussion coaches for the Mt. Eden High School percussion section. |

Philip Bradley Newkirk: Owner and Music Director of Pianos N' Strings. Advanced Piano and Beginning Guitar Instructor.
Mr. Newkirk was born in Richland, Washington. He began cello lessons at the age of 8 years in the school system of Livermore, California. At the age of ten years he spent two years at the Aachen Conservatory, Aachen, Germany taking piano lessons. Upon returning to the United States he continued his piano studies during high school and college. 10 years ago he returned to a string instrument by learning to play the guitar. He currently is continuing his studies on both instruments.
In 2005 he founded the Pianos N' Strings Studio in Dublin, California. He has taught beginning guitar and advanced piano to hundreds of students in the TriValley area. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Education from the California State University, Hayward, California. In addition, Phil is a professional tennis player and has taught tennis and organized tennis tournaments both privately and for the Hayward Recreation and Parks Department in Hayward, California. Jorge Jernandez is a Bay Area native. He grew up in South San Francisco, and now spends most of his time in the East Bay. He has been playing Saxophone for the past 16 years, and has picked up flute and clarinet along the way. He is currently working on his Bachelor's of Arts in Music with and emphasis on Jazz Performance at California State University, East Bay. While at CSUEB, he has had the opportunity to share the stage with contemporary jazz greats such as, Dayna Stephens, Jim McNeely, Matt Pavolka, Greg Osby, Dennis Mitcheltree, and Ralph Alessi. He has studied composition with Bay Area B3 Organist/Composer Delbert Bump and is currently studying saxophone with Bay Area sax legend Dann Zinn. |
